Did the book The Easy Way to Stop Smoking help you stop?

November 9th, 2009

It is by Allen Carr.
Anyone tried it? What was the outcome.
Thanks in advance for your answer.

I haven’t read it, but I was a smoker for sixteen years (started young – thought it was sooooo cool) and I haven’t smoked in about 5 years. Don’t miss it, either!

If you *want* it badly enough, you can do it. Heck, if *I* can do it, anyone can!!

Good luck to you!

stop smoking tips?!!! NEED TO QUIT!?

April 7th, 2010

Ive been smoking for a couple years now and i really need to stop…but i cant! any tips?! any help would b greatly appreciated =)

Wanting to quit is the most important step. Make sure to talk to the people close to you and ask for their patience and support. Then the first thing to do is get rid of your ashtrays and clean the smokey smell from your car and home. Remove as many remnants and reminders as possible.

In moments of temptation understand it will only last about ten minutes. If you can divert your attention for ten minutes the craving will pass. Stay busy, try a new hobby or explore an interest to replace smoking with a new positive habit. Keep your breath minty fresh also, it may detour you from spoiling it by smoking.

Helpful herbal remedies include nicotiana and yarrow or golden yarrow. They help ease cravings and alleviate emotional symptoms associated with cigarette withdrawal. Both are available in a liquid tonic form just add a few drops to water or juice.

A common quitting strategy is tapering down to a target quit date. Smoke one less per day. Only have your allotted amount of cigarettes with you each day with the others hidden. Have a reward planned for yourself on your target quit date!

Start saying "goodbye" to very cigarette you smoke (for positive programming).

Remember to drink extra water too because as you quit toxins are going to be released from your body. Eat a balanced diet and take supplemental vitamins to restore your health. Congratulations on improving your life!

Anyone got any stop smoking tips?

April 5th, 2010

Hi, Im quitting smoking. I’ve smoked about 10-15 cigarettes a day since i was 14, im 22 now. I’m using patches and I havent smoked since Sunday night. It’s now 5.30pm on Tuesday in Ireland, so I’m doing pretty well.
I’m hoping you guys have some tips on how to stop smoking. I’m looking for original tips that you wouldn’t find on a regular ’stop smoking’ website, thanks a million!
Ten points for the best tips!!

Hi,

I’ve smoked for 11 years, a pack a day, more when I’ve been drinking.

I made the decision a month ago to Stop! Ask your self why you want to quit. Write it down. Then ask yourself the benefits of quitting that pertain to you. (Health, Money, e.g. whatever that may be).

I quit a month ago yesterday, cold turkey, for me that’s the best way.

I printed out this list of "Things to Think of When Tempted" and stuck it on my fridge and my wall at work.

Things to Think of when Tempted
++++++++++++++++++++++++
Your Health and your families

How Much better you’ll look and feel

The longer, easier life you’ll lead

The thousands of pounds you’ll save every year

Your cleaner home, car and clothes.

I personally want to see my grandchildren when they come along and not to let my kids see me die a slow death by suffocation and I want to LIVE.

Your brain will tell you you want a cigarette. Tell it to "back off"!! and to think of something more constructive!

You’ll do it this way, I promise.

just how bad is smoking from 1-10?And how to stop? And what are the benefits in smoking?

April 3rd, 2010

Im talking about cigarettes. I dont want answers like "find the will" i want simple, free, and easy ways to stop smoking. and what are the positive benefits in smoking?

In terms of "how bad" smoking is…depends on a lot of stuff. If you smoke cigarettes in moderation (like…maybe a half-pack/day or less) it’s probably less bad than overeating during a long period of time….so maybe like a 3, if 10 is really bad. Notice I say "less bad", because tobacco smoke is bad for you, no matter what. You smoke a bunch of cigarettes a day, probably like a 7-8.

Benefits of smoking? For me, I am able to relax and meditate when I smoke. I, for one, am just too damn ADD to sit still and try to meditate for a half-hour each day. Nothing gets me focused quite like going outside and lighting up a nice cigarette.

How to quit? That’s the million-dollar question. The best success rates are found by those who, pardon my french, go "balls to the wall" and quit cold turkey. Nicotine Replacement Therapies are OK, but it’s not as good as the "real thing"

Cheers

What ia the best way to stop smoking weed forever?

April 1st, 2010

And please dont respond with"you just stop smoking."
it is not that easy.

Try not to be around other people that are doing it. It is to tempting if you are around it. If you do not do it for a while you will not know why you ever did. You have to stay committed to not smoking it.

Wat’s the easiest way to stop smoking?

March 26th, 2010

Keep a packet of 10 cigarettes and a lighter with you at all times, so you know the reason you have stopped smoking is not because you haven’t got any but because you refuse to be controlled by nicotine any longer. Get nicotine gum if you need it but be careful not to get hooked on that.

I am for about two years having the smoking habit and my age is 20 and i want to stop smoking i already tried lots of times to stop smoking but i cant do this. What is the best way to stop smoking

hi dear
follow these guidelines to quit smoking habit
- Ask yourself why you want to stop smoking.
- Write your answers on a piece of paper and carry it with you.
- Use it to remind yourself of why you want to stop, whenever you feel like smoking.
- Fill out a "stop smoking contract" and have a family member or friend sign it. Throw away all your cigarettes, lighters and ashtrays.
- Change your schedule to avoid circumstances in which you usually smoke. Walk around the block or chew gum when you would normally be smoking.
- Put up "no smoking" signs in your house and work area, and even in your car.
- Prepare yourself to feel the urge to start smoking again. The American Cancer Society suggests four ways to deal with the urge to smoke: delaying, deep breathing, drinking water and doing something else.
- Carry around "mouth toys" such as candy, gum, straws and carrot sticks.
- List the good things that have happened since you stopped, and keep the list with you wherever you go as an inspiration.
- Reward yourself for quitting; you could take the money you might have spent on cigarettes and buy yourself something nice.
Good Luck
