Talk with your doctor about quiting. Since you are pregnant, intaking nicotine in any form will be dangerous for your baby. Your Dr will be able to reccomend other ways or ideas for you.

Good luck!

You have to remember that your are pregnant and things have consequences. If that isn’t strong enough to discourage you from smoking… chew on a gum.

Just picture your little baby coming out stillborn or with severe health problems. Don’t think of quitting as giving up something, think of it as saving a life. Good luck!

Just think about how your baby will probably die, be retarded, or suffer from major health problems if you keep on doing it. Do you want the guilt of having a sick child…something that could have been prevented?

Everytime you want to smoke, think of how your causing your unborn baby to take in the smoke. Do you want to give it birth defects?

this is how you do it:
    think hard about your baby.
do you want it to be starved of oxygen, premature and blue?
    or healthy?
if you care more about your babys life than a dumb addicition you should have enough willpower as a to-be mother within you to stop being selfish and just give it up.
    good luck! :)

I guess just the fact that you’re acknowleding that fact that it’s not a good thing to do while you’re pregnant…that should be reason enough to stop. Addictions are mental, you can quit. Just quit. Realize it’s VERY bad for your baby, and if you want a healthy baby, you have to stop.

Think about it this way – if you carry on smoking, you may harm your baby’s health. That should be motivation enough to stop.
My Mum smoked 40-50 a day up until she got emphysema at 50. Then she managed to stop when the doc told her it would kill her in 5 years, so it is possible if you want to enough.

Don’t light it! There are currently, as well as many women before you, that have quit smoking on their own solely because they knew they were pregnant and did not want to harm the baby!

Its good to see that you are putting the baby’s needs before you own.

If you think you want to smoke, I would suggest that you close your eyes, and imagine that smoke getting to baby, and how that must look and feel to the baby…

    Good luck!

It is possible to stop and you better be able to so that your child can be healthy and so can you. There are many patches, gum, and medications that people have come out with that are supposed to help people to stop smoking. One other thing you need to have, is the will power to stop. Think that your child’s life depends on you stopping, and so does yours.

    Best of Luck

    Chew on sunflower seeds
    chew gum
    Wear a smoking patch
not buy anymore and every week your boyfriend could give you something or money if you dont smoke any.

take a straw and cut it to where its about the same size as a cigarette. and whenever you have an urge to smoke one just put it between your fingers and pretend your smoking a cigarette…but don’t light it up ahahah. its all in your mind that you think you need to smoke

Eat a lot of gum! this really helps. also if you have sunflower seads or something that you can crunch on when you want to smoke this really helps! Also you have to want to do it for your baby! That is the biggest part!

Cold turkey, its the only way. However, if you sneak a cigarette here and there (im not talking about every other day) i don’t think its going to be that bad. Best thing is to quit, but if you sneak a cigarette once a week, its not going to be devastating.

There is no easy way to quit smoking. In my opinion, your best bet is to quit cold turkey. That’s what worked for me anyhow. No matter how you quit it’s going to suck so you might as well get it over with. You could try chewing gum (it helped me for a while) or eating sunflower seeds. Something that keeps both your hands and mouth busy will be helpful.

Other than that, I don’t know. When you really want a cigarette just remind yourself that you are doing what is right for your baby. Best of luck.

Talk with your doctor about safe ways to stop smoking. I would recommend the patch, but I’m not sure if that level of nicotine is baby safe. Also, smoking is related to an oral fixation, so you should find something to replace it. You could try chewing gum, blowing soap bubbles, blowing up and releasing air from a balloon, etc.
Also try exercising more. It will release endorphins into your brain that can give you the same type of satisfaction as nicotine. Also, when you crave a cigarette, try visualizing your baby inside of you and how your smoking would make it feel.

Think of your child first. It wont be the only time in the next 18 years you’ll have to do that.

But in all honesty, when I quit smoking I chewed on chocolate covered expresso beans alot. But i dont think you can do that cuz of all the caffeine. Gum also helped out.

well you can’t stop just like that you because if you were to you would get sick but say you smoke 4 a day every few weeks take one out and work till you are down to one then eat the smoking gum a lot the gum does help and you will stop in about 1-2 months it depends on if you take one smoke out every week or a few weeks. but you have to keep eating the gum and you have to push yourself tell yourself no it is for the baby.

This sounds horrible, but it will help:

Every time you go for a smoke, think about the little one inside you and all the harm you will do. Research all the consequences of smoking while pregnant and this will make quitting a little easier because you will fear what could happen to your child if you don’t stop.

Talk to your doctor who is giving you prenatal care. They will be the most prepared to help you in getting you ready to have a child, especially with options to help you quit smoking.

Good luck and I hope this helps! I wish the best for your future baby too!

I am so glad that you want to stop smoking. Especially because you are Pregnant. Well first of all you want to throw away all your lighters and cigarettes. Well maybe you would want to keep one lighter if you need it for candles or anything. But just not for smoking. Next, you should find something else that replaces smoking such as chewing sugarless gum. Soon enough you will find yourself not needing to smoke anymore. Your baby is going to be so lucky to have a mother like you because when my mom was pregnant with me she was smoking and drinking! I hope it all works out for you. And congrats on your way to being a mother! =)

think of what could happen to your baby, and if something did happened you would always wonder if it was from smoking – you would never forgive yourself – find pictures of things that happened to babies because of smoking and look at that every time you want to light up

I am not pregnant yet, with my 1st Child I stopped as soon as I found out. Of course I started up again as soon as I stopped breastfeeding, which was DUMB. I Have been trying to quit but my Doctor told me that the Patch is a Class 3 Drug and is not safe for pregnancy. So if I were to get pregant while on it It could be harmful to the baby. you should consult your OB Doctor for help. it’s the best thing you can do for your unborn child!

Smoking is more of a psychological addiction than a physical one. If you really want to quit you must discover the reasons why you smoke and then eliminate or change these thought processes.

Once you deal with the psychological side of smoking it makes the quitting process easy, no matter your level of addiction.

Quitting smoking does not require any patches, gums, hypnosis or anything like that. These methods are expensive, time consuming and simply do not work. All that is required is a bit of motivation (your baby), self belief and determination.
