What’s the easiest way to stop smoking?

March 2nd, 2010 | by admin |

I get nervous every time I think about stopping. I have stopped for small amounts of time in the past but always give in to the craving eventually. It’s sooooo hard, but it’s a filthy dirty habbit and it’s going to kill me…help please?

its not easy unless you change your way of thinking.
you have to be positive.
set a date.
you must believe you are not depriving yourself by not smoking.
you are not trying to give up. when you stub out your last ciggy, you have given up. you have done it.
now you must look forward to your new lifestyle.

if or when you think you need to smoke, remember you do not smoke anymore. take 3 deep breaths have a glass of water, go for a walk. remember. you are a non smoker. always . you are a non smoker. its in the past. after a few days your body will be accepting that you dont smoke. your body will love it. mentally you must know you dont smoke. when you believe it, you’ve done it. good luck. ive done it and my husband did it in the same week. be positive.

Alan Carrs book ‘The easy way to stop smoking’ did it for me (I wasn’t even planning on giving up) – there is no pressure – just read the book and see what you think.

Go "cold turkey". I did it twenty years ago and I have never gone back smoking. It works.

Try to target the first reason you started smoking. Get some friends to help you stop. If you want you can even talk to a doctor about some medicine that might help.

You can use Chantix. It binds to the receptor in your brain that responds to nicotine and stops you from getting the nicotine "buzz." Some people use Zyban (Wellbutrin). There is research suggesting that your genes determine which of these you will respond more to. Hypnosis, at least for some, is highly effective and for those who are able to respond to it, you really get that wonderful sense of "that was easy!"

Tell everyone you are going to stop, then smoke their ciggies and after a while they will certainly banish you from touching their ciggies, so you will have no choice but to stop

You are a dopamine addict, so you need to wean yourself off of the stuff by replacing smoking with something else that makes you feel good like exercise or having sex.

Switch to a different brand of cig. If you smoke menthol, switch to non-menthol. They won’t taste the same and you’ll smoke less.
